The fifth edition of the 16mm Immersive Laboratory at Casa do Xisto continued the collaboration initiated with Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival, further developing research into collective, ecological and alternative practices of film-based cinematic creation.

Maintaining its focus on eco-processing and the methodologies developed within the context of the “Alchemy of Cinema”, this edition reinforced the laboratory as a space for shared experimentation, where processes of development and creation are conceived in dialogue with the territory and guided by a sustainable ethos.

This edition once again featured a partnership with Canal 180, where the films were presented in a first public screening at its venue in September 2023. The works were later included in the programme of Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival in November 2023, in a session accompanied by a conversation with the residents and tutors, focusing on processes of collective creation and on ecological and alternative practices of film development. This dual presentation reinforced the project’s exhibition and discursive dimension, bringing together screening, critical reflection and the sharing of knowledge.
